The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Process A Contractor’s Step-By-Step Guide Delmarva Power's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program takes a whole-house approach to making energy improvements, while ensuring the health and safety of the occupants is protected. These simple steps outline the process of a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR retrofit from start to finish. Step 1 When a Delmarva Power customer in Maryland contacts you to discuss upgrading their home’s energy efficiency, discuss their concerns and schedule a Home Energy Assessment. Step 2 Complete the comprehensive Home Energy Assessment at the Delmarva Power customer’s home. The assessment includes a complete visual inspection, diagnostic tests and installation of several simple, energy-saving measures such as energy-efficient lighting and efficient-flow showerheads. Step 3 After completing the assessment, provide the Delmarva Power customer with a Home Energy Assessment Report that details the findings and recommendations for improvements. In the report, you will include any applicable rebates available from Delmarva Power and estimated energy savings. Step 4 Your Delmarva Power customer then decides which improvements to install and you perform the work. Possible energy efficiency improvements include: Adding insulation and sealing air leaks Sealing and insulating ductwork Window replacements as part of a larger air sealing and insulation job Improving heating and cooling systems Upgrading lighting, appliances, and water heating equipment Step 5 Test the end result for efficiency, and address any air quality or safety issues immediately. Step 6 Within 30 days of the installation, submit the rebate application on behalf of your Delmarva Power customer. Take advantage of this opportunity! Become a participating contractor.
