Course Highlights

  • This fundamentals course focuses on basic energy management strategies, including evaluating energy bills, establishing building energy baselines and various performance metrics, and developing facility benchmarks using Portfolio Manager.

Course Description

This course examines common HVAC and lighting systems, their impact on energy consumption, common opportunities for energy conservation, indoor environmental quality, and customer relations at a basic level. Through learning activities, participants learn the importance of measuring and bench marking energy performance and their role in achieving organizational energy and financial goals.

Fundamentals is intended for operations and maintenance personnel with one or more years of on-the-job experience, facilities professionals not directly involved in equipment maintenance, and those in management and supervisory roles.

Participation Criteria

Building operators can apply for incentives that reduce the registration fee to $190. In order to receive an incentive payment, applicants must:

  • Be assigned to work at a commercial and/or industrial facility within the Delmarva Power Maryland territory.
  • Be present at that facility at least 50% of their working hours.
  • Be employed in a position of responsibility for the energy management of the facility or have the potential to influence the building’s energy performance.

In cases where the applicant is a contractor and not a direct employee of the Delmarva Power customer, a representative of the Delmarva Power customer must sign the application to confirm that the applicant is assigned to work at the customer’s facility as indicated above and that the customer supports the applicant’s participation in the training program.
