After your Energy Wise Rewards device is installed, you’ll receive two credits.

Your Installation Credit is a one-time bill credit that appears within two billing cycles. Annual Reward Credits are paid to you each summer that you participate in the program. You will receive Annual Reward Credits for each device installed as a line-item savings on your monthly bills from June through October.

For example, if you signed up for 50% cycling and your selected device was installed before you were billed in June, you would receive your $30 Installation Credit as a credit off your June or July bill, plus $6 per month in Annual Reward Credits beginning with the same June or July bill and continuing through October.

You can find your Energy Wise Rewards credits on page 2 of your bill (see example below). This customer’s device was installed in May, and they received their Installation Credit and first Annual Reward Credit on their July bill.

The EmPOWER Maryland charge funds programs that can help you reduce your energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and save you money. Since the inception of the EmPOWER Maryland program in 2008, the programs have saved $14.5 billion on installed measures at a cost of $4.1 billion. In addition to new program costs, this charge includes paying off the uncollected costs that were accrued over time by programs required by the EmPOWER statute and authorized by the Commission. In accordance with House Bill 864 the uncollected amounts will be fully paid by the end of 2032.
