Appliance Recycling Program

At this time, we’re offering customers two ways to participate in our Appliance Recycling Program:

1. Request an outside pickup: We’ll pick up plugged-in appliances from outside your home.
2. Request an in-home pickup: We’ll pick up plugged in-appliances from inside your home.

Requirements and Limits

• Get $50 for recycling a working large refrigerator or freezer, plus no cost for pickup and disposal.
• Receive an additional $25 when you recycle your working room air conditioner, dehumidifier, or mini refrigerator at the same time.
• You must be a Delmarva Power residential electric customer with a valid account number. Your appliance(s) will be picked up, at no charge, from the address listed on your billing account.
• You must own the large refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier, room air conditioner, and/or mini refrigerator.
• The large refrigerator and/or freezer must be 10 to 30 cubic feet. Large refrigerators and freezers are eligible for $50 per unit.
• Mini refrigerators must be 3 to 9 cubic feet. Mini refrigerators are eligible for $25 per unit.
• The large/mini refrigerator, freezer and/or dehumidifier must be cleaned out.
• The large/mini refrigerator or freezer must be defrosted and dry, drip pan drained and water lines disconnected.
• Your appliance(s) must be in working condition. We are unable to accept any appliance(s) with mold or mildew damage.
• There must be a clear and safe passage for appliance removal. We cannot remove railings or move furniture.
• Appliance(s) can be collected from inside or outside the home.
• In-Home Pickup Requirements:
  • Elevator access is required for any large refrigerators or freezers located above the second floor.
  • An adult age 18 or older must be present at the time of pickup.
• Outside Pickup Requirements:
  • If the unit is located outside, ensure that the large/mini refrigerator or freezer is closed securely and cannot be opened by children.
  • If the unit is outside for pickup and no one is home, there must be an authorization form completed and placed inside the unit. The unit will not be collected if there is no authorization form. Delmarva Power is not responsible for any stolen property left outside for the program.
• Limit of two large appliances (refrigerators and/or freezers) and two small appliances (room air conditioners, dehumidifiers and/or mini refrigerators) per residential account per year.
