How to Participate for Contractors

Become a participating contractor. Here’s how:

Step 1: Online Interest Form
Complete the online interest form to get the process started. After you submit the form, a Delmarva Power Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Account Manager will contact you to explain the program and answer your questions.

Step 2: Training and Certification
Have at least one staff person achieve Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Certification and BPI Envelope Professional Certification by passing written and field tests. Learn more about the BPI certifications. Your company also will need to obtain and maintain U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead-Safe Certification.

Step 3: Required Equipment
Purchase or have available diagnostic equipment, such as a blower door, required of home performance contractors to conduct assessments and sell comprehensive work effectively.

Step 4: Contractor Participation Agreement
Download, sign, and submit the Contractor Participation Agreement with your Program Application (step 5) to demonstrate the capacity of your business to participate in the program.

Step 5: Program Application
Complete the online Program Application .

Step 6: Beacon Home Energy Advisor
Learn to use the Beacon Home Energy Advisor software, a nationally recognized tool for estimating energy savings from proposed work, which helps you:

  • Produce professional reports for Delmarva Power customers.
  • Report evaluations and installed work to Delmarva Power’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.
