Cecil College Knocks Lighting Upgrades Out of the Ballpark

Cecil College constructed a new on-campus athletic facility and installed energy upgrades with assistance from Delmarva’s Energy Savings for Business Program. The upgrades, which include high-efficiency LED lighting, will allow the college, student athletes, and staff to save on costs while the teams safely and comfortable train, recruit new players, and prepare to compete at the top of their game.

The Opportunity

• Cecil College decided it was the perfect time to construct an indoor athletic facility for their baseball and softball teams
• Cecil College would no longer need the teams to travel to and rent an off-campus practice space for winter training

The Upgrades

• Cecil College and the Delmarva Power program team reviewed affordable, energy-efficient lighting options and engineered an ideal lighting plan for the facility
• Installed 28 LED lighting fixtures

The Benefits

• High-quality lighting, increased comfort and safety for practice, and a new source of pride for the teams and the college
• Energy savings estimated at 15,765 kilowatt-hours annually
• Energy costs were lowered by approximately $1,892 annually
• Saved $2,765 on upgrades using available incentives
